The pre-market bid held into the regular session. At 11:08 AM ET the S&P 500 is 7,713.69 (+0.48%), the Nasdaq Composite 26,415.79 (+0.94%) and the Dow 52,342.44 (-0.04%). The Russell 2000 is 2,804.74 (+0.66%) and the SOX index 11,345.02 (+2.36%), so this is a chip-led, narrow rally rather than a broad one.
Rates and risk gauges: the 10-year Treasury yield is 4.984%, still just under 5%. VIX is 17.58 (-4.40%). The dollar index is 102.238 (+0.27%), WTI crude 100.32 (-1.42%) and Bitcoin about 80,182.60 (+0.37%). Futures for reference at 10:58 AM ET: S&P 500 7,748.50 (+0.44%), Nasdaq-100 29,709.00 (+0.92%).
What drives the session: AI capital again. Nvidia and AMD will invest $3 billion and $1 billion in Meta's equity raise, per CNBC, and Broadcom's $63 billion Anthropic financing keeps the bid in networking and custom silicon. Software is the funding source today, with Adobe, Salesforce and ServiceNow lower ahead of a heavy earnings week.
The open confirmed the chip bid: semis lead, software lags, and I keep risk capped into Wednesday's Fed and Big Tech prints
At 11:08 AM ET the S&P 500 is 7,713.69 (+0.48%), the Nasdaq Composite 26,415.79 (+0.94%), the Dow 52,342.44 (-0.04%) and the SOX index 11,345.02 (+2.36%).
What changed since 9:00 AM: the Nvidia investment in Meta is now a combined $4 billion with AMD adding $1 billion, per CNBC, and Broadcom held its pre-market gap through the first hour, which triggered the planned call debit spread in the simulated portfolio.
The event wall is unchanged: Fed decision Wednesday at 2:00 PM ET, Vertiv before the open, Microsoft, Alphabet, ServiceNow and Equinix after the close. A strong morning is not a breakout; most chip names are still below their 20-day averages.
Posture at midday: the gap held, so I took the one planned defined-risk trade and nothing else. No new short premium across Wednesday's prints unless a long option caps it.

GNOUP is tracking a pretend $1,000,000 account to show how a Monk Mode process would be applied, in public, with every trade and its reasoning logged. Stocks are filled at the last quoted price and options at the midpoint of the bid and ask, with no commissions or slippage. Real fills can differ, often by a lot for options. Simulated results do not predict or reflect real results.
Starting Mon, Oct 26, 2026, I run a pretend $1,000,000 through the same Monk Mode rules as this column: defined risk, no leverage, no single name above about 10% of the portfolio, and at least 20% of it free in cash. Every trade below carries its reasoning, and every trade is kept in the history.

AVGO November call debit spread
Oct 27, 2026, 11:09 AM ET
Buy to openAVGO Nov 20, 2026 $340 call5 contracts at $15.03 per sharecost $7,515
Sell to openAVGO Nov 20, 2026 $365 call5 contracts at $5.98 per sharecredit $2,990
Why: The 9:00 AM condition was that Broadcom hold its gap after the first hour. At 11:08 AM ET AVGO is $340.42 (+3.42%), it opened at $339.87 and the session low is $336.87, so the gap held. It is still below the 20-day (-2.1%), 50-day (-4.2%) and 200-day (-7.4%) averages with RSI 39.6 on the last close, so I want a measured recovery bet toward $365 with the whole risk paid up front. The November 20 expiry comes before the estimated December earnings date.
Risk: Maximum loss is the full debit paid if AVGO is at or below $340 on November 20; that is about 0.5% of equity at entry. Gains are capped at the $365 short call, and the short call is covered by the long call in the same expiry.
Exit plan: Take profits at about 50 to 60% of the spread's maximum value. Close the spread if AVGO closes below $320, or if the debit decays by half. No adding to the position and no rolling a loser.
Intraday update: the Broadcom gap held, so I booked the planned call debit spread at live midpoints
This is the 11:00 AM intraday edition, marked on regular-session quotes. The open confirmed the pre-market bid: at 11:08 AM ET the S&P 500 is 7,713.69 (+0.48%), the Nasdaq Composite 26,415.79 (+0.94%) and the SOX index 11,345.02 (+2.36%), while the Dow is flat (-0.04%). VIX is 17.58 (-4.40%) and the 10-year yield 4.984%.
What I did: the 9:00 AM plan said a small AVGO November 20 $340/$365 call debit spread only if Broadcom held its gap after the first hour. It did: AVGO opened at $339.87, has not traded below $336.87 and is $340.42 (+3.42%). I bought 5 spreads at the live bid/ask midpoints, sized at about 0.5% of equity, with the debit as the maximum loss.
What I did not do: no new short premium across Wednesday's Microsoft, Alphabet, ServiceNow and Equinix prints or the Fed decision, and the GOOGL LEAPS still waits for Alphabet's report. Holdings are marked at live quotes; TSM stays under the 10% per-name cap and I am not adding. Exit plans on all other positions are unchanged, nothing expires this week, and most of the portfolio stays in cash ahead of Wednesday.
The seven mega-caps that carry most of the AI-trade weight in the major indices.
What is moving the Mag 7
Midday the Mag 7 is mixed and quieter than the chips. Tesla $402.35 (+2.74%), Apple $347.56 (+1.06%), Amazon $251.58 (+1.00%), Alphabet $319.79 (+0.94%) and Nvidia $217.70 (+0.79%) are higher; Microsoft $533.10 (+0.09%) is flat and Meta $626.00 (-0.72%) is lower (quotes 11:08 AM ET).
The setup is earnings, not headlines: Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday after the close, Amazon Thursday after the close and Apple Monday, November 2. Alphabet is still oversold (RSI 29.5 on the last close, 33.1 live) and Meta trades just above its $625 offering price, so both have defined reference levels.
Nvidia and AMD buy into Meta. Nvidia said it will invest $3 billion and AMD $1 billion in Meta's equity offering, after Meta announced plans to raise $95 billion for AI infrastructure. CNBC reports AMD up about 3%, Nvidia flat and Meta down about 1%. The deal ties suppliers and customer closer; it does not change this week's earnings.CNBC↗ (opens in a new tab)
Supply and financing. Meta upsized its Class A offering to $25 billion at $625 per share, and Broadcom finalized $63 billion of financing for Anthropic's purchases, per CNBC's Investing Club. New stock supply remains a risk for the group even as capital stays available.CNBC↗ (opens in a new tab)CNBC↗ (opens in a new tab)
A test for the AI trade. CNBC's Michael Santoli frames this week as a now-or-never moment for the AI trade to rebound after two weekly losses. The Big Tech prints and the Fed decide whether Monday's bounce becomes a trend.CNBC↗ (opens in a new tab)MarketWatch↗ (opens in a new tab)

Read this first. These are worked examples built from delayed option quotes at the time shown, not advice to you. Premiums are mid-points of the bid and ask and real fills differ. Options can lose the full premium, and cash-secured puts and covered calls can lose most of the value of the stock. Strikes, dates and sizes that suit one account can be wrong for another. Check live quotes, and treat any position as one you could lose.

Trade 1: NVDA · Cash-secured put
Sell 1 putUnderlying $217.70
I would own Nvidia lower. The $195 strike is under the 200-day average near $203.82 and about 10.4% below the $217.70 live price. The November 13 expiry comes before the November 18 to 20 earnings window, so I am not selling this premium across the print. Premiums are re-priced on the live chain.

Premiums are mid-points of the delayed Nasdaq option-chain bid/ask at OCT 27, 2026 11:11 AM ET. Real fills differ, so check live quotes before acting. Credit is about 0.53% of the cash secured, before any assignment.
Exit plan
Buy back at about half the credit, or close if NVDA closes below its 200-day for two straight days. If assigned, treat the shares as a holding bought at the strike less the credit.
Position size
Only with the full cash set aside. Assignment value should be no more than 5% of the portfolio.
What can go wrong
Loss is large if the stock falls sharply, down to zero in theory. This is not a defined-risk spread: the cash backing is the risk control.
2
Trade 2: META · Put credit spread
Sell 1 put, buy 1 lower putUnderlying $626.00
Meta is $626.00 live (-0.72%), just above the $625 price of its upsized offering and near its 200-day. Nvidia and AMD committed a combined $4 billion. A December put spread sells premium from a zone about 7% below the price with the loss capped by the lower put. The next report is estimated for late January, after expiry.

Exit plan
Close at 50% of max profit. Exit if META closes below $595 on two straight days. Never roll a losing spread into a bigger size.
Position size
Risk no more than 1% of the portfolio at the max-loss figure shown.
What can go wrong
Maximum loss is the width of the spread minus the credit, reached if META is below the lower strike at expiry.

Trade 3: AAPL · Covered call
Own 100 shares, sell 1 callUnderlying $347.56
For shares already owned: Apple is $347.56 live (+1.06%), RSI 61.5 live and near its 52-week high, with earnings on November 2. The November 20 $365 call is about 5.0% above the price and the premium includes the earnings event.

Net per share includes buying the stock at the current price; if you already own shares your own cost basis applies. Premiums are mid-points of the delayed Nasdaq option-chain bid/ask at OCT 27, 2026 11:11 AM ET. Real fills differ, so check live quotes before acting.
Exit plan
Buy back the call if AAPL rallies hard before the strike and you want to keep the shares, or let it be called away. Avoid selling calls on shares you could not bear to sell.
Position size
One contract per 100 shares you already own, and no more than about 5% of the portfolio in any single stock. Your own cost basis will differ.
What can go wrong
You give up gains above the strike, and you still own the downside in the shares, reduced only by the premium received.
TSM is $434.80 live (+2.46%), RSI 49.7 live, above its 200-day with no earnings until January. A deep in-the-money January 2028 call replaces stock at a fraction of the cost, and the November 20 $460 call, about 5.8% above the price, is sold against it. The long call covers the short call.

Max loss is the net debit while the long leg outlasts the short leg. Profit and breakevens depend on time and implied volatility, so they are not fixed numbers. Premiums are mid-points of the delayed Nasdaq option-chain bid/ask at OCT 27, 2026 11:11 AM ET. Real fills differ, so check live quotes before acting.
Exit plan
Buy back the short call at about 50-70% of its credit and re-sell a later one. Close the whole position if TSM closes below its 200-day average, or if the long call loses a third of its value.
Position size
Max loss is the net debit. Keep it under 2% of the portfolio; skip the trade rather than sizing the risk up.
What can go wrong
Max loss is the net debit paid. Profit depends on time and volatility, and the short call caps the near-term gains.
Alphabet closed oversold (RSI 29.5) and is $319.79 live, still about 6% below all three averages and 22% under its high. A deep in-the-money January 2028 call gives stock-like exposure with a capped dollar risk, but only after Wednesday's report; I do not hold binary event risk by choice.

Exit plan
Review after earnings. Close or roll if GOOGL closes below its 200-day average after a recovery. Take partial profits on a strong recovery above its 50-day average.
Position size
Treat the premium as the amount you may lose entirely. Keep it to 2% of the portfolio or less.
What can go wrong
The call can lose its entire premium. Time decay works against you, and a delayed recovery costs money.

Trade 6: AVGO · Call debit spread
Buy 1 call, sell 1 higher callUnderlying $340.42
Broadcom is $340.42 live (+3.42%) and held its gap through the first hour (low $336.87), but it is still below its 20-day, 50-day and 200-day averages. A debit spread at the money expresses a measured recovery toward $365 with the full risk paid up front, and the November 20 expiry is before the estimated December earnings. The simulated portfolio booked this structure at today's live midpoints.

Position size
Risk no more than 0.5% of the portfolio, the full debit.
What can go wrong
Maximum loss is the debit paid if AVGO is below $340 at expiry. Gains are capped at the $365 strike.
